I once created a retail business that I ran for years. Within the education sphere, I instruct history and civics. I also have experience with theater, working as an actor and director. History is a subject I have always loved; my idea of history is a subject that studies all ideas created by humankind and also their accomplishments. Each subject teaches a different way of thinking: math is logical, science is analytical, English is to expand one's horizons to encompass the area reaching past our own time and space. However, history makes the person think for themselves. Today, I think a lot of people receive information from articles on the internet, TV personalities, or family and friends, and they don't invest enough energy into gaining a realistic understanding of the world. With this plethora of information floating around, it's too much to decipher the truth from fiction. I think it is important to gather a thorough, legitimate background on subjects, with a variety of views, and then form one's own opinions. I study history within a framework of concepts, instead of a past-present-future timeline. This allows me to understand thoroughly how other time periods laid out the base that current society is built upon.
